In the ever-evolving landscape of business and technology, the increasingly common use of AI tools has emerged as a transformative force, reshaping industries and challenging outdated norms. As businesses navigate the complexities of this digital era, the intersection between AI and its rapidly developing legal landscape becomes a focal point of discussion, not only among regulators but also among other stakeholders.

This was the central theme of Dr. Paul Crosio’s discussion on Monday, November 27, 2023, during the Evening Panel Discussion on Artificial Intelligence in Thailand co-hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) and the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC). Dr. Crosio shared the stage with Nop Chitranukroh of Tilleke & Gibbins, Andrew McBean of Grant Thornton, and Dave Davani of Blue Resources, with Gareth Davies moderating the discussion. The panel delved into various aspects, including the use of AI as a business tool, its impact on workers, the current regulatory landscape in Thailand, and considerations that stakeholders need to be aware of.

Dr. Paul Crosio specifically addressed ethical considerations surrounding AI, focusing on transparency, fairness, and accountability. He also explored the challenges regulators may face when overseeing AI and discussed the diverse policy and legislative approaches they might employ to establish laws and guidelines for AI platforms, their deployment, and data handling.

Key points raised during the engagement emphasized the growing ubiquity of AI and underscored the importance of exercising caution to ensure that such tools and platforms adhere to ethical standards. This involves prioritizing considerations such as data privacy protection and intellectual property rights, while also providing the necessary support for the sector to thrive and make a positive impact on businesses and beyond.

We would like to thank BCCT and TICC for hosting this discussion, as well as the speakers, moderator, and attendees for the enlightening and engaging interactions that evening.
