At Silk Legal, we are committed to giving back to our community. That’s why as an Australian-managed firm that consistently participates in Australian community events, we are proud to have provided support the Advance Australia Council’s Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch 2023, which took place on 7 November 2023. The event was a resounding success and brought together people from diverse industries and backgrounds, all united in their commitment to making a positive impact for those who are less fortunate.

We are delighted to announce that, through the event’s generous sponsors, and the dedication of the volunteers who made this charity lunch possible, the event raised over THB 500,000. This was done through activities such as raffle draws, an auction, and the lucky horse draw sweepstakes.

The Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch 2023 was a volunteer-run event aimed at raising funds for three remarkable Thailand-based charities: Hands Across the Water, Shalem House, and Born to Live. These organizations work tirelessly to support disadvantaged children and communities, providing them with essential services and assistance. Silk Legal is honored to have played a role in contributing to these noble causes.

About the charities

  • Hands Across the Water is a charity devoted to helping underprivileged children in Thailand by providing them with access to food, homes, education, and other future pathways. The goal of this charity is to offer the necessary assistance so that these children do not go hungry, miss out on education, or face life challenges by taking on undesirable employment.
  • Shalem House, a community project of Rainbow Community Services Foundation under Christ Church Bangkok, extends a helping hand to impoverished families who cannot afford adequate accommodation or food, as they seek medical attention for their children. These families typically come from the provinces and travel to Bangkok for specialized medical care.
  • The Born to Live Program, initiated by Father Sean Smith from the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Development Center in Adelaide, Australia, in 2004, is an organization dedicated to supporting children infected with HIV. They do this by giving the children access to school, medication, laboratory tests, uniforms, books, and more.

Once again, Silk Legal is incredibly proud to have been a part of the Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch 2023. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Advance Australia Council, the volunteers, sponsors, and all those who attended this event. Together, we worked towards creating a brighter future for the beneficiaries. We remain committed to our role in corporate social responsibility and making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

We look forward to continuing our support for impactful initiatives and working together to create a better world for all.
