Silk Legal is proud to reaffirm its commitment to corporate social responsibility by supporting the Advance Australia Council’s Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch 2024, held on November 5, 2023.
Hosted at Dusit Thani Bangkok, the Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch celebrated Australia’s iconic racing tradition while highlighting the spirit of giving. The event featured engaging activities, including a charity raffle and a lucky horse draw sweepstakes, with prizes valued at over THB 1.3 million. Together, attendees raised approximately THB 700,000 for two impactful charities: Hands Across the Water and Born to Live.

Rooted in the principle of community support, Silk Legal was honored to sponsor this meaningful event alongside esteemed Thailand-based businesses, including Amrapur Tailors, Lawton Asia Insurance Brokers, Bumrungrad Hospital, and Asian Tigers Thailand, among others.
The event gathered individuals from diverse industries and backgrounds, united in a common purpose: raising funds to support those in need.
About the Charities Supported by Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch 2024
Hands Across the Water is a charity focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Thailand by providing essentials such as food, safe housing, education, and future opportunities for meaningful livelihoods. The charity’s mission is to ensure these children do not face hunger, lack of education, or limited future prospects. At the event, Peter Baines, the founder of Hands Across the Water, introduced the ambitious ‘Run to Remember’ initiative. This campaign will see him run a staggering 1,400 kilometers across Thailand over 26 days to raise USD 1 million for disadvantaged children, underscoring his dedication to this noble cause.
Born to Live, established in 2004 by Father Sean Smith from the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Development Center in Adelaide, Australia, offers crucial support to children living with HIV. By providing access to essential resources, including schooling, medication, laboratory tests, uniforms, and educational materials, Born to Live strives to improve the quality of life for these young individuals and empower them with the tools they need to thrive.
